Can we start over?
Every new year ushers in big dreams, high hopes and increased expectations, but no one expects loss. At least I didn’t. In the span of nine days, I lost a friend from church, my precious grandpa, and a little boy* we were praying and believing would become part of the family. Loss is hard. Dealing with the grief is hard. The month of February has been one of the hardest trying to stay hopeful in the midst of tragedy.
I have wrestled with God and struggled to find motivation to pray. I have asked Him “why” many times. I have cried myself to sleep. And I have tried to ignore my feelings and push them aside. All the while, the Ultimate Comforter has been drawing me closer to Him. Jesus tells us that we will have troubles in this world. It’s a guarantee. However, He also promises that we will have victory through our faith because Jesus Christ has overcome the world.
If you are facing hard and uncertain times, be encouraged, and press forward knowing that you will overcome in Christ. I put together five Bible verses that held me together through unexpected loss this year. I pray you find as much comfort in these truths as I did.
