If I am honest, some days I feel deep passion, doors opening, and leading from the Holy Spirit, but then there are some days, I feel stuck, unmotivated, and very confused.
Can anyone relate?
If you find yourself confused, frustrated, or burned out trying to figure out what is your calling- rest assured! I want to share two simple ways to live out your calling every single day. (Trust me, it’s less complicated than you think!)
1) As a believer in Jesus Christ, we live out our calling everyday by making Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross, known.
I was at a women’s conference this past Tuesday and one women on stage was asked about calling, she said this , “All of our ONE THING, our one call, is to outwork the great commission. When we believe our one thing is to make Jesus known, it simplifies our call”
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19/20 (The Great Commission)
How do we do make Jesus known? We use what is in our hands with where are right now. We can make Jesus known whether you are in the boardroom presenting to a bunch of CEO’s or in the playroom, changing diapers all day.
2) As a believer in Jesus Christ, we live out our calling everyday by surrendering to Jesus, not an assignment.
God equips us all to take on certain assignments and tasks that make Him known. For example, some are called to the stage to speak or sing, while others are called to write or draw, and others are called to be a wife or mom.
As God begins to place new dreams, new passions, and opens up new doors for us, it can be easy to believe our calling is to that certain assignment or task. It can be easy to get caught up in striving to accomplish it, and even become overwhelmed by the big dreams and the little we have in our hand.
It can be easy to believe that our assignment is our calling. And when we surrender to an assignment, rather than to Him, it can cause us to strive and get caught up into something that we were never meant to in the first place.
“Think of the pitfalls we could avoid if we were more abandoned to God rather than to a particular kind of service.” –Beth Moore
Jesus doesn’t want us to get “hung up” on the assignment, because ultimately, it doesn’t even matter if He asks us to preach the Word in front of thousands, or rock one baby in the nursery, our calling is to be abandoned fully to Him.
When we can truly surrender each day to His Will, desiring to make Him known, with where we are and with what we have, it is a pretty exciting and stressless way to live!
Let’s not overcomplicate our calling, friends! If you are a believer, our calling is to make Jesus known and surrender to His Will, every single daily… it is truly that simple.
