Did you know, it is possible (and necessary!) to rest, restore and rejuvenate even in the middle of a running after your dream?
Even when we feel we are in a run season, or we feel ready to sprint after our dreams….even if we feel like God is opening doors and our everything is coming together, things are falling into place, …even if, we feel like God is shouting at us to run after your dreams…We still need to REST.
If we keep sprinting without any rest, we will eventually become exhausted, burned out, and overwhelmed, and instead of preparing for it, which brings peace, we will be forced to rest which can lead to anxiety.
And trust me, I get it. I was out sick this past week. A whole week! Seven long days and all I could do is wrap myself up in bed and do nothing. The world doesn’t stop when we rest, unfortunately.
Besides a good night sleep, here are a few other things I missed the past seven days:
- Four days of work
- An important meeting at church
- My first women’s bible study (and I was the hostess)
- 53413654 phone calls, texts & emails
- Daily Destiny for Friday, Monday and Wednesday
- Three dates to hangout with friends
It would have been easy to get anxious with everything I missed.
It would have been easy to feel guilty for letting people down.
It would have been be easy forgo the rest I needed and strive to get everything done because it was planned.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me besides quiet waters. He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:1-3
So, whether you need a physical, emotional or spiritual rest, make sure you be intentional to unplug and unwind.
Anxiety, guilt, and striving was never part of God’s plan for us while pursuing our dreams, but rest was part of His plan, why do you think He established Sunday as the day of rest? He knew we would need rest weekly!
Today, tomorrow, this year….run, even sprint after your dreams, but be intentional about finding rest when you need it. You will be more productive, more at peace and more joyful in pursuing your dreams, when you are rested, restored and rejuvenated.
